OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF THE ISLAMIC MOVEMENT IN NIGERIA

On Tuesday last week the 24th of march 2008, the Government of Wamako Sokoto, in a strange move took the presently 116 detained members of Islamic Movement in Sokoto, from 7 upper courts to a single lower court. The members who were in detention for the past eight months, were taken to the lower court of Sharia contrary to the Upper Area Court which was handling the case, without the knowledge of counsels to the members. Our investigations suggest that the desperate move by Wammako may not be unconnected with a plan to disrupt the possibility of release of detained members by the Upper courts on the next court sit on 2nd of April due to failure of the police to provide evidence against the accused members. On the said Tuesday, during the case hearing, the counsel to members plead the judge to release the detained members due to lack of evidence by the police. The Judge has postponed the hearing to 7th of April 2008
