The Islamic Movement marks Shuhada (Martyrs) Day.

The Islamic Movement marks Shuhada Day on Saturday the 24 of Rajab 1432 ( 25th of June 2011) at Baqiyyatullah Husainiyyah. The program was marked together with Martyrdom anniversary of Imam Musa Al-khadeem(AS) and was attended by hundreds of thousands of Muslims from different part of the Country including martyrs families.

Shuhada Foundation was established 20 years ago, following  brutal onslaught on Members in Katsina by men of Police in 1992 which led to the martyrdom of Mallam Abubakar Madomawa, to cater for the family and dependants of  the Movement’s  martyrs. It has since recorded success.

Speaking on the activities of the Foundation, its chairman Mallam Abdulhameed Bello  stated  that the Foundation has under its care 199 children of the Martyrs  adding that the number of martyrs now reached 130.  He further explained that 80% of the children are now  in various of Schools including Tahfiz( Schools for quranic memorization) ; while some of them he said, are now in tertiary institutions.

The Leader of the Islamic Movement, Sayyid Ibraheem Zakzaky delivered a lengthy speech on the Commemoration of Imam Kadheem(AS)’s  martyrdom and  the merit of martyrdom and warned those who kill religious people for their belief of bad consequences. He also spoke on Members’ responsibilities in taking care of the families and dependants of the martyrs. He further called on members to promptly be  paying  Shuhada monthly dues.

Trophies, certificates and various gift items were presented by Sayyid Zakzaky on behalf of the Foundation  to groups and individuals who excelled in contributing to the activities of the only Foundation in Nigeria that caters for martyrs.
