The Islamic Movement in Nigeria commemorates of Arba’een of Imam Husain(AS). The Islamic Movement in Nigeria under the leadership of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky organized 40th day commemoration of the Chief of Martys Imam Husain(AS) at Husainiyyah Baqiyatullah Zaria, city Nigeria on 25 of January 2011 (21/2/1432). The gathering was attended by scores of Muslims at the Husainiyyah where Sayyid Ibraheem Zakzaky spoke on the virtues of Arba’een. The leader explained how the the commemoration becomes a global appear with increase in number of pilgrims every year, though poorly covered by the media world media, and despite the reported bombings of pilgrims.
He spoke on significance of 40 day with citations from the verses of the holy Qur’an and Ahadeeth. He also highlighted on the lessons of Ashura tragedy while explaining the motives of the perpetrators of the tragedy.
In the later part of his speech, the leader of the Islamic Movement spoke on the current state of affairs of Muslims with reference to Muslims in Nigeria where leadership in Islam is seen as synonymous with usurpation of power by all means . He noted that to change things Muslims must take action, as change does not happen without action as thought by Imam Husain’s sacrifice.
Matam was performed in which poetry of Ashura tragedy was recited. In conclusion Sheikh Zakzaky recited the ziyara of Imam Husain(AS), that of his companions and Dua’ tawassul.
